To engage residential customers to power their homes with clean, local renewable power using simple, accessible and affordable options
We believe in Clean Power for All. If you have a large roof which faces the sun to benefit from solar, that’s great. With community solar, we’re helping democratize solar energy by helping more people access renewable energy than ever before. And there are other options, so now even people without large, south-facing roofs can ‘go solar’ or ‘go green.’
Relay Power is all about teamwork. We bring the ‘community’ to community solar by engaging towns, local retail outlets, non profit organizations, and networks of sustainable businesses to help spread the word about all the clean power options that are out there. We have specialized in community solar for consumers in Massachusetts and are expanding our efforts to include other states and other clean distributed forms of electricity generation. We’ve made a lot of progress but still have a lot of work to do. We have joined like-minded organizations and companies to help further mass adoption of local, clean energy options.

Art Handy, Clean Energy Specialist
Art is a kind of a renaissance man (he doesn't usually do the jack-of-all-trades thing). He has worked for Relay Power since 2018. Before that he had been working in the rooftop solar arena since 2016. But before solar he mostly spent his career in the non-profit sector, most recently with the American Lung Association working on outdoor air quality. What is really unusual is that he also has been a State Representative in the Rhode Island Statehouse since 2003. His work in the non-profit sector in environmental health and his years as a State Representative has given him a deep understanding of renewable energy policy. This same work has given him deep and broad roots within the broader New England community where he is well known as a champion of affordable and renewable energy. Fun Fact: I love butter and would eat it straight as a snack if I could.
Laurel Payne, Marketing Manager
What Drives Me: Building a greener future in the most inclusive way possible with a small, mission-driven team. Fun Fact: I am on a mission to visit every natural hot spring in the U.S.
